How the Concordia Cabaret Raised Money for the Brass Band Project

On Friday evening, March 9, our High School Tri-M Music Honor Society raised over RMB 8000 by organizing their annual Cabaret Talent Show.  Money was raised for the Brass Band Project at the Peng Cheng Special Education School in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. The school, also known as Granny Han’s Special Education School provides housing and education for over 140 special needs children.

The children at Granny Han's use music as a form of therapy, which allows a number of the older children to join a Brass Band.  The money raised will help to provide a music teacher, instruments, uniforms, music and supplies for one school year.

This year our annual auditioned Cabaret Talent Show featured 11 acts, including singers, guitarists, pianists and other instrumentalists. Among many wonderful acts, there were performances included familiar music from the motion picture LaLa Land performed by a 12-piece orchestra, as well as an original song written and performed senior Emily Wang.
