This past Saturday, 70 middle school musicians assembled in Concordia's Rittmann Theatre to perform in the Shanghai Regional Middle School Honor Band inaugural concert.
Concordia middle schoolers, along with students from SAS-Puxi, SAS-Pudong and AISG, participated in this honor band event which is designed to support middle-school level musicians and ensure a high level of concert band experience among musicians from each member school.
Concordia students opened the show with "American Patrol," a patriotic march by F.W. Meacham, arranged by Ed Huckley, and directed by MS Band Director David Allen. They later closed the show with the triumphant "Castles and Dragons" by Todd Statler.
By providing students the opportunity to participate in a specialized, challenging and fun musical experience, the Shanghai Regional Middle School Honor Band festival benefits holistic musical growth among musicians at the middle school level.
