December 7: High School Students Host Illuminating Literary Event

Written by Brandon Fisher | Nov 28, 2017 6:20:00 AM

Writers have shaped human history and culture in profound ways, using the written word to capture significant historical and cultural events that have impacted society and the world. On December 7, students in our high school Author Studies class will share with you the life and works of some of their favorite authors at the Author Study Coffeehouse.

Favorite author quotes from the Author Studies class

At this literary salon-style event, students will share and discuss the life and works of some of the world’s most influential writers, including Franz Kaka, Joyce Carol Oates, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Barbara Kingslover, Leo Tolstoy, Terry Pratchett, and Ha Jin.

Literary concepts, such as style, tone, political, social, and historical context, are first taught to the class as a whole then applied individually by each student through analysis of their author's work.

Because the knowledge and enjoyment of literature is something to be shared, we welcome you to join us Thursday, December 7, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Wittenberg Hall for the Author Study Coffeehouse. This event is free and open to the public.
