Which university are you planning to attend and what influenced your choice?
I decided to attend Rhode Island School of Design, because out of the many art schools, I felt that this school would allow me to further develop as an artist. I knew that I certainly wanted to attend RISD after participating in the Pre-College Summer Program which lasted for two months.

Was there a particular program that interested you when choosing where to apply?
Since I was still unsure about which art major to commit to, I wanted a school that provided a Foundations Studies Studio for the first year.

In your time at Concordia which classes, programs or school related activities helped to support your interest in your major? AP Studio Art definitely helped me grow as an artist. This course challenged me to pour my creativity on to a surface, and complete 24 works of art by the end of the year. Other art courses, such as AP Art History, Clay works, Applied Art & Design all contributed to my interest towards fine arts.

In your opinion, what made your application(s) stand out? As an art major applicant, the most crucial component in my application was my art portfolio. Rather than building a major-based portfolio, I reflected my creativity onto a broad range of mediums, including paintings, drawings, stop-motion films, and sculptures.

What excites you most about college life? I am excited to go to RISD because of the diverse community! I am thrilled to meet students with a strong sense of artistic individuality, and be surrounded by people who share the same passion as me.
